What This Course Covers
The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training is delivered across two structured tiers to ensure staff receive depth appropriate to their day-to-day responsibilities:
Tier 1 (General Awareness — Non-Direct Care Roles)
Designed for staff who need general awareness, such as receptionists, administrators, catering teams, drivers, and maintenance staff.
Part 1 (E-Learning): 90-minute foundational module covering core definitions, communication styles, and reasonable adjustments.
Part 2 (Interactive Live Webinar): 1-hour live session co-facilitated by experts with lived experience, focusing on attitudes, inclusion, and practical awareness.
Tier 2 (Enhanced Clinical & Direct Support Roles)
Designed for staff who provide direct care, treatment, or clinical support, including support workers, HCAs, nurses, social workers, and care managers.
Part 1 (E-Learning): The same 90-minute core module completing foundational theory.
Part 2 (Full-Day Practical Workshop): An immersive 1-day (or two half-days) face-to-face training session co-delivered in person by an approved lead trainer and experts with lived experience.
Course Eligibility & Entry Requirements
At Almans Education, we tailor our specialist clinical training to build solid competencies for frontline care teams.
Prior Qualifications: While there are no strict academic entry requirements, learners should ideally have completed their foundational Medication Administration or Infection Prevention and Control training before enrolling.
Language Proficiency: A good standard of written and spoken English is necessary to accurately read feeding regimes, track fluid balance charts, and engage with vital medical instructions.
Clinical Scope: This course focuses on the care, maintenance, and day-to-day use of existing PEG systems. It does not qualify non-nursing staff to perform the initial surgical insertion procedure. Prerequisite Step (Part 1): All delegates undertaking either Tier 1 or Tier 2 must complete the official 90-minute E-Learning module (Part 1) before attending their interactive live webinar or face-to-face session.
Language Proficiency: Learners require a basic level of written and spoken English to participate in live discussions, group exercises, and reflection activities.
Employment Status: Open to all health and social care personnel, including agency staff, permanent care workers, clinical managers, and ancillary teams.
